Another day and another “Glenn Beck is subverting America” insane thread by the Corpulent One

July 28, 2010

Charles Johnson’s favorite demon Glenn Beck is (allegedly) at it again. It has got to suck being The Johnson –  he sees the workings of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann everywhere! Where does he get his threads from? I’ll bet it is Talking Points Memo.

Glenn Beck’s 9.12 Project Graduates to Book Banning

Glenn Beck’s homophobic, atavistic 9.12 Project has apparently succeeded in getting a library in New Jersey to remove a book for gay high school students, even though no formal challenge to the book was ever filed: NJ Library, Citing Child Pornography, Removes GLBT Book.

A New Jersey public library has ordered the removal of all copies of Revolutionary Voices: A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology (Alyson, 2000) from its shelves—despite the fact there was no formal book challenge—and its library director has referred to the title as “child pornography,” according to emails obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey through a Freedom of Information Act.

Gail Sweet, library director of the Burlington County Library System (BCLS), in April asked Library Commissioners to approve the removal of the book after a member of the conservative group 9.12 Project contacted Sweet requesting that it be taken off shelves.

While direct calls to Sweet were not returned, she did respond to an email request explaining BCLS’s decision to take Revolutionary Voices off its shelves.

“Thank you for your interest but I have nothing to say on the topic,” Sweet wrote.

Created by American television and radio personality Glenn Beck, the group vows to defend the constitution of the United States-and is the same organization that advocated Revolutionary Voice’s removal from New Jersey’s Rancocas Valley Regional High School this Spring.

In the strange world of Glenn Beck followers, “defending the Constitution” apparently equates to banning books.

F’n A. So let me get this straight (no pun intended): The Pony Tail thinks that “Revolutionary Voices: A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology” is mainstream stuff.

And nowhere in there does anyone challenge the allegation that it does, in fact, contain kiddie porn. Well, does it, Chuck? Go on record; does it, or doesn’t it contain kiddie porn?

Wait a minute. ONE member of the 9.12 Project called the library and asked that a book that he believed was inappropriate for teenage access be removed from the shelves. I can just as easily call up my library and ask that th Collected Works of Reverend Jeremiah Wright be removed from the shelves. The Library Director is under no obligation to accede to my request. In fact, this Library Director didn’t wait for a formal request, she just started demanding they remove the books.

The blame lies with the Library Director, not a citizen who has reservations about a book that has been described as child pornography being available to anyone on the library shelves. But you keep reaching, Johnson. You keep reaching. And no, idiot, Glenn isn’t going to mention you on his radio or television show, so don’t start salivating over increased traffic numbers.

Geller was on Hannity last night. Maybe subconsciously CJ is trying to get a shoutout from another FOX star. LOL.
About the book, I agree with your points. The speed with which the library director removed the book leads me to believe it would not be easily defended as educational vs. porn to the library board. Librarians are some our best defenders against banning books and most libraries carry the Stonewall Book award winners. CJ can stop trying to portray this as some plot by right wingers to deprive gays of reading material.

Buy the Geller/Spencer book (from Amazon) The Post-American Presidency. I just did.

He always hopes Andy Breitbart will mention him on his radio appearances as well, I imagine. Andy did on one show, Mike Church’s, but I doubt that he’ll make the same mistake.

Of course, you can’t blame Jazzy Johnson for getting upset with Geller and Spencer having literary offerings. After all, the only the Johnson and his minions can ofer up are two lousy cookbooks.
