Chuck: Witchhunt Good

August 18, 2010

I’m astonished. I didn’t think the crazy at the BVoAF was this bad:

The internet is abuzz with this, as a gaffe. This is up there with “you have to pass the bill to see what’s in it” in terms of Pelosi doofiness. So what does Chuck do? He posts it like it’s a feature, and not a bug. This is far worse than any whitchhunt that Joe McCarthy ever engaged in; this is out-and-out totalitarianism when the government starts investigating groups simply because they oppose the government’s policy.

Chuck, you’re a dope and a dick. This is low, even for you.

Update (h/t Voltaire’s Crack): I hadn’t noticed, but there was an extremely disingenuous re-direct in this headline. Somehow, Pelosi’s call to convene Star Chambers for critics of the mosque, morphed into “anti-muslim groups”.

Classy, Chuck.

    And, by comment 20, Chuck gives himself a blow job:

    re: #6 darthstar

    That’s not the same as calling for a ‘congressional investigation.’ I think what Speaker Pelosi was saying was, “Hey press! Do your fucking job and stop being part of the problem!” But the media is too lazy to do that, by and large. That’s why it takes a blogger at Salon to trace the outrage back to Pamela Geller, and it takes the Rachel Maddow show to put it on TV. Everyone else in the media is more interested in “How will this hurt President Obama and the Democrats in November?” It’s their August ratings booster, like the death panel fears and gun-toting teabaggers from last year’s town halls who were simply just good honest white folk worried about how that crazy black president was going to kill grandma.

    Not to blow my own horn, but I’ve trying to warn people against Geller and Spencer and their ilk for years, long before Rachel Maddow or Salon got into it.

    I’m sure they’re impressed as all heck, Chuck.

    33 Charles Wed, Aug 18, 2010 10:50:29am

    The media should do their job and report on who Pamela Geller really is, what kind of insane garbage she writes, and who she associates with. It’s pathetic to see report after report refer to her blandly as a “conservative blogger,” when she’s completely deranged with hatred.

    And the evidence for this is right there in plain view on her crazed website.

    Actually I find these comments by Pelosi bothersome. Since when does ones freedom of speech to come out for or against a matter have something to do with whether or not there is financing behind the debate.

    Talk about treading on constitutionally granted rights. I see her comments as being as populist and partisan as the right wing stirring up this anti-mosque rhetoric.

    At this point, a lot of people, on both sides, have put the constitution on hold to pander to the electorate.

    Not good.

      Walter, you and the rest of the shitbags over at LGF need to stop simply espousing Part 1 of the argument. NO ONE (or let’s say almost no one, because there are some in the mix that do) says they haven’t the RIGHT to build a mosque near Ground Zero.

      What the 70% of the country is saying, and what apparently you and the rest of the intellectually deficient over at the Swamp are not listening to, is Part 2 of the argument – is it APPROPRIATE? And the answer to that, overwhelmingly, is NO.

      No, if you can’t wrap your little pea brains around that position, then do us all a favor and stay out of it until you can differentiate the two.

        If Chuck deliberately ignores that fact, why do you expect his cultists to be any better?

        This is really simple: yes, under law and under the constitution, they have a right to do it, and no, it’s not a good thing.

    Johnson is a frustrated man. When making similar attacks on Geller three years ago, many people took him seriously because he was still a respected blogger. Now that he has zero credibility, nobody outside of lgf cares what he says any more and thus, out of frustration, his attacks are becoming increasingly desperate and deranged.

      Fifteen of the 19 terrorists were Saudi Arabian and funding from that country could further anger those already opposed to the mosque. Many mosques in the U.S. have been funded in part with Saudi money.

      Iran has been designated a sponsor of terrorism by the U.S. government.

    Of course the Mad King supports Pelosi’s witch hunt. He has engaged in several witch hunt purges himself:
    first against anyone who dared raise a voice in support of Geller and/or Spencer;
    then against anyone who did not parrot his adulation of Richard Dawkins or who thought that everything the Mad King tarred as creationism was not quite what he declared it to be, and/or was not the knife at the throat of the Republic he declared it to be;
    then against people who dared declare themselves anything akin to a “conservative Christian”;
    then against anyone who spoke contrary to his New Orthodoxy on “global warming”;
    then against anyone who expressed a certain boredom with his obsessions regarding creationism, “global warming,” or what other people were saying about him;
    then against anyone who dared post at a non-Mad King-approved website;
    then against anyone who dared disagree with his vicious rodent love;
    then against anyone who dared suggest that Obama only walked on water when he peed himself and strode through the puddle.
    He has since continued a descent into paranoid witch hunts by seeing “socks” the way a delerium tremens sufferer sees snakes and elephants; by picking fights with other bloggers and obsessively stalking other people’s comments regarding his bizarre behavior.

    The only difference between the Mad King and Pelosi is that she is slimmer, uses more botox and lipstick, and—unfortunately—occupies a position of power so that her words, unlike the Mad King’s, have consequence.

    I don’t BELONG TO ANY GROUP. Build the damn mosque somewhere else.
