Another trip down memory lane with Chuckles – it seems that he and Pam Geller were actually friends once
Since she is a “fascist” what did that make Charles? If only she had agreed to go out with him as he so desperately wanted!

The Irony Meter here is hysterical!
564 Charles Fri, May 12, 2006 3:42:35pm rayra: I’m sorry you feel that way. Same goes for [Engineer]. But I’m not going to start banning one group of people simply because another group demands it. You’re asking me to pick sides, and I’m not going to do it. Defend your opinions, or don’t. Argue with trolls, or ignore them. It’s your choice.
I defend my opinions every day by posting here, and this kind of personal grudge fighting only gets in the way. Trolls debunk themselves with their silly comments, and making them into huge enemies who need to be defeated and driven out is not only counter-productive, it makes them happy.
And I reiterate (not to rayra), inviting people to leave LGF and post elsewhere is crappy behavior, and I wouldn’t do it to any of you.
Hmm it seems as if Robert Spencer was well thought of by Fatso!
Letters from a Mujahid
Charles Johnson
May 12, 2006 at 6:44 pm PDT • Views: 8Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, the University of North Carolina student who drove an SUV into a crowd trying to kill as many people as possible (and fortunately, only injuring a few), has sent several letters to the school’s student newspaper, the Daily Tarheel, explaining his motivations for his attempted act of mass murder.
The letters are on the Dailly Tarheel site (in PDF form) here, here, here, here, and here.
Robert Spencer examines the Islamic rationale of Taheri-azar’s letters: Letters from a mujahid.
There is a strong apologetic content to these letters. He is engaging in da’wa, trying to convert those who read them to Islam. They are also revealing of the jihadist mindset. He also describes what he did on the day of the attack in great detail, including which sections of the Qur’an he read at which hours leading up to his attack. He also says that he rises at 3AM in his jail cell to…read the Qur’an.
A few other observations about them:
1. Taheri-azar is not insane. He is articulate and perfectly in control of what he is saying.
2. He was not motivated by poverty or deprivation. Nor was he an ignorant bumpkin manipulated by sophisticated machiavels.
3. He firmly believes that he acted in obedience to Qur’anic dictates — see the image above. (Yet in response we will no doubt get another flat statement from Islamic apologists, to the effect that the Qur’an absolutely condemns what he did and yet quoting no Qur’an, or if quoting any then only 5:32.)
The implications of this must be faced, and soon, by both non-Muslims and Muslims in America.

This whole thing started when Pamela had the audacity to stick up for people she knew and cared about when Chunky, who had absolutely no first-hand knowledge about any of them, started smearing them on his blog, and took Pam to task for “associating” with them.
I think if Pam should be ashamed of any associations, it would be her once proudly calling that piece of crap across the street a friend and “blogdaddy.”
Oh, and Chunky? FaceBook can’t process new friends for Pam because she’s overloaded with requests, whereas I’m sure you wait and wait and wait…..
Worse than “blogdaddy” I remember once (on her blog) when she called him “righteous gentile”. She’s got some serious backpeddling to do on that.
Oh come on…..You know that whenever he sees Pamela on TV he’s stood there, knees bent trousers down rubbing his thighs and saying “Oooooooh loot at ‘er……Isn’t she filthy……She’s a right mucky one she is”…..and then he starts bobbing up and down and getting more excited and he slips his mitts into his week ond underpants and starts crying out loud……”Oooooh Pamela …..Use me…..Use me…..you tart……”……
….I know I always do.
He just feels all dirty about it afterwards and posts one of his nasty little threads like it was her fault…
Bottom picture broken.
And I remember that scolding of Rayra and [engineer]. When again was the Friday Night Massacre?
Looking back, I think they were both being petulant dicks, but still. The irony. Maybe Chuck’s epiphany was when he realized that he could take sides and start banning for content.
Arachne would know the date. It was sometime in September 2006 and yes the two of them could be a bit how shall I say “abrasive”?
Friday and Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, 2006, I believe.
Back in those days Charles Johnson was a righteous gentile!
That was her post of the launching of Pajamas Media in New York City. There’s a photograph of her and Chunky and she labels it “Charles Johnson – something something and Righteous Gentile.” (And he spits away an honor I would give my left arm for.)
Back in those days Charles Johnson was a righteous gentile!
He most definitely was. He understood who the enemy really was (and hint, hint, – it was not fundamentalist Christians).
Rayra and the GCP crowd got banned during the infamous Night of the Long Knives in September 2006.
So this preceded the massacre by a few months. I can imagine how Chuck got annoyed with all the “Charles, ban xxx” crap coming from certain quarters. I sure would have.
IIRC, [engineer] left on his own before the NotLK. He was all pissed that Chuck wasn’t censoring and banning more.
Oh, I thought the Night of Long Knives was what you guys were talking about – the mass bannings of everyone over Labor Day Weekend in 2006.
Whoever wrote on LGF as Charles Johnson is not who is writing there now.
Rayra nominated me for the ban stick more than once, IIRC. I managed to make it another year.
Shucks, Chen, I may have disagreed with your viewpoint from time to time, but I always thought you were a fun dude, even when you were pokin’ us all with the pointy stick.
I’m glad to see this history highlighted. In those days as now I was fully opposed to one faction getting others banned and Charles was steady and blogging it right. Quite a few wanted to be monitor lizards. Took a lot of grief for my position back then. As then as now we’ll never better the world unless we can work without picking on people on our side we “dislike for some goofy reason”. Also some sought personal power if they could “gain a personal following”. A lot of goofy behavior went under the bridge and I knew we would eventually be in the situation of more foreign policy failures and the USA under eroding stress as we are now.
I speculate that Charles had a contract with a Bush association that ran out and he went to his true colors after that. Then he got his head jumbled over Geller and out came even worse behavior.
They all had it in for American Infidel, who did have a little bit of a problem with loose gums. But AI was also a casualty of the NotLK. So at the end of the whole thing, it wasn’t about who was right and who was wrong, and who was in bounds and who was out of bounds, it was just Johnson, losing his patience.
Funny that a few years later the place would become exactly the kind of echo chamber/cult that he seemed to be trying to avoid then, and that the people who got tossed were trying to make it into. Just an echo chamber/cult of a different ideological bent.
Oh hell, that idiot Chunky banned people that night who weren’t even involved and posting. Who was it – Swampwoman? I know it began with an “S” – that got banned and she wasn’t even there at the time. Absolutely ridiculous. Reaganite left on his own, I believe, but when I heard that the jerk had banned HAVOC of all people, I was like “oh I am DONE here.”
Swampwoman I think was there, and not backing down. Sarah D., IIRC was the one who was banned in ansentia for association.
I just cannot believe that from a mild-mannered, reasonable, moderate Charles of years ago, he became this hysterical leftard freakazoid Chumples we know and mock today. Holy crap! It has to be the drugs!
yep.
It’s really bizarre, how he became a full fledged moonbat.
Even more bizarre is how so many decided to follow him off the cliff.
I am very serious about that. Really hard drugs like crack and methanphetamine can cause a person’s personality to degenerate in a horrible fashion. I watched this first hand with a girlfriend’s older sister who discovered the joys of crack. It got so bad that I had a standing order that if she showed up at my house the police were to be immediately called. And I think everyone knows how much I love John Law.
Sarah D! That’s right! I’m totally embarrassed I didn’t remember – she was one of the people I considered to be my great friends over there, along with Joel, Skippy and Iron Fist.
