Those Dingalings!

October 4, 2010

It’s good to see that some things haven’t changed:

Like currency, those dings are.  They’re coveted.  What they buy you, we’re not sure, but we know that they’re taken very seriously over there.   Remember the earth-shattering ultimatum that Dark Falcon delivered a while back?

Ahhh…that still makes me chuckle.  I still wonder if there are files somewhere with charts, graphs and tables to help CJ actually quantify the level and scope of group-think, peer pressure, and general butt-kissing.   But those dingalings do have some mystical powers. They must be used wisely.

Exit question:  Did Killgore ever retract?  Or is Dark Falcon saving his dingaling for someone else?

    Infidel :
    How old are these dingleberries?

Mentally they are 14 and chronologically most are probably 23.

    Does she like me?
Well if she likes me, then I like her.
I like, like her, but only if she like, likes me.
But don’t tell her I like, like her, unless she says she likes, likes me first.

That’s still pretty old for compacted fecal matter clinging to unwashed pubic hairs.

Charles, you can ask if people should be afraid of Islam until you’re blue in the face. The fact of the matter is that many people are, and if you call them ignorant, useful idiots, or any other terms you’re not doing yourself any justice. People see Islam attacking them and their lives, its natural their going to be scared. You can say that its not Islam, its only a handful of Muslims, you can say that its only the fanatics, you can say that they don’t represent Islam. But the fact of the matter is their are arguments for both sides of each of those claims, some justified, some not.

The problem in America and with the Jon Stewart Approach is that they don’t address the real and valid fears that people have. They only turn people off because their condescending and know it all. I like you and I like Jon, but its time the both of you start addressing peoples fears and not belittling them or trying to convince them in vein that when a terrorist yells Allah Akbar and kills innocent civilians it really has nothing to do with Islam.

Because of the misuse of “their” instead of “they’re” and “vein” instead of “vain” this guy must be a white illiterate bigot, probably from the South. Even worse, he probably gets his so-called news (air quotes) from sources other than the Farm.

Here’s some dingaling factoids for the last 600+ threads at LGF:
(sampling 216 out of 617 threads)

average ding per comment = +1.77
    (95,974 comments generating 169,707 +dings)

Charles’ comments average +8.02 dings per comment
    (853 comments generating +6844 dings)

iceweasel is second at +3.92 dings/comment average
curiouslurker, kilgore trout, sanfranciscozionist round out the top 5 ding averages.

ludwigvanquixote used to be at +3 dings/comment but over the last few postings has dropped all the way down to a +2.5 average

Anyone with a ding average less than 1.77 is below average. Some of the very lowest ding averages:
    tradewind is at -0.77 ding/comment
    thematrix31 is at -0.25 ding/comment
brookly red is at 0.29 ding/comment
    walter l. newton is at 0.80 ding/comment
    njdhockeyfan is at 0.83 ding/comment

Dings per thread has declined precipitously over this time frame, from about +1100 dings per thread to around +500 dings per thread, but this is because the average number of comments per thread has declined from about 600 comments per thread to about 250 comments per thread. Average ding per comment (+1.77) has trended slightly upward (dingflation).

I was still silently protesting aka sulking, LOL, during your comments on the price of free speech thread. I agree with you and am glad to see you are still posting.

I’ve got the threaded version of the fateful thread here in the file “im-really-tired.html” and I have to say, re-reading it, Possum comes off much better than his attackers IMO. E.g. it’s not until his 26th comment in the thread (comment #427) that he’s goaded into finally repeating Eliana’s phrase that he “hates Jews”, and even then he puts it into the context of “…like you hate Arabs” (and that as the result of months of goading and piling on at Blogmocracy, according to Possum). Pretty small potatoes for the penultimate confession from the star chamber IMO.

    Possum’s penultimate confession. (?)

Look it up in the dictionary. Unless you’re implying that Possum’s going to return and confess again.

No I’m implying he made more than one confession but that seemed the most important.

But yes I’ll look it up, and TIA if I’m not using it correctly…

“—Can be confused: penultimate, last, ultimate.”

Okay, but I’m not alone.. (see above)

I’ve only been misusing that my whole life ;P

I was confusing ‘climactic’ with ‘penultimate’, and while they are sometimes, maybe even ofttimes, synonymous, that’s, I see now, just a coincidence.

So thanks again for the correction!
