On DoD Adornments

October 24, 2010

There has been some talk about the appearance and presentation of DoD, so as one of the contributors here I thought I’d take the liberty to present some ideas to the regulars.  And as a group blog, I think it’d be fair to post it up for discussion.

Now, I wasn’t here for the creation of the site, but since I’ve found it, I’d like to think of this place as the new HQ for the anti-LGF insurgency.  And we’re unique, in that we have a sort of bipartisan group.  But I don’t think we should ignore the work of the anti-LGFers that came before us, even if it was from a different era or political viewpoint.  Their work can be a valuable resource.  Anti-LGFers are anti-LGFers, after all, and that is what this blog is all about. As noble blog warriors, we should pay homage.

So, I’ve scoured the interwebs for heirloom and anti-LGF imagery of all kinds, and picked what I believe would make appropriate additions to the sidebar.  In the interest of page load times, I don’t think we’d want to add all of them, so I’ll throw a bunch up here and see what people think:

Of course, feel free to add any other ideas!

Nice collection. A frame from “Bite Me Comix” might be appropriate also.

I remember buying several of those “LGF Minion” patches from Iron Fist at the Oakland meeting up. Now I think I need to stitch a horizontal red line through them (if I even still have them).

    Traffic Rank now 15,400

3 month -26% Change in Reach over the trailing 3 month period

I bet if none of us clicked on there for a week, his stats would completely crash.

PS. I like Proudly banned, 4 times.

Is that really a cartoon Icarus, or is it Charles as Cupid, maybe igniting the fires of love between Jimmah and Iceweasel?

It’s actually the artwork for “Kid Icarus” for the Nintendo.

I like the football going in the trash can. Remember there were slogans like, Pitch in, put trash in its place or Place all trash in the proper container? I would add something like that under the image.

I like the comical one on the upper-left, and the King Lizard/Bad Craziness flier.

I just ventured over there, and I still can’t believe how awful the whole enterprise has become. The content is bad-crazy, as we have seen too much of in the past year and a half, but the site itself is still a horrible mess of bad code. I’m on the fastest computer and cable-hookup I’ve ever used, and it still takes about three minutes to load. It’s embarrassing! And the moron brags about his DIY masterpiece whenever he gets the chance, and he always gives himself the chance…

Yes before I quit visiting I couldn’t access the comments at work. Upon entering the comments screens it would lock up and never recover. There are a lot of spinning, flashing doo hickies and popups on the front page so I don’t know why the same within comments would cause a problem. Maybe something Charles is running there to see from where people are coming (trying to spot socks) combined with the defensive software they use here at work on our laptops maybe. But that didn’t happen on any other sites, blog or otherwise.

I don’t even go there anymore because of the crazy and oh my the load time is
incredible SLOW! Then there is popup’s it is horrible. Try to even look at the comments and even slower load time. A total waste of my time.

I vote for the “Proudly Banned from LGF”, but they’re all good. I never got to register at LGF when I used to go there so I’m unable to join the ranks of the “Proudly Banned.” I’m sure as hell not gonna start reading that swill of a blog again hoping to register.
