Stuff CJ Forgot to Delete: Hat Tips!

November 7, 2010

Little Green Footballs has a long and consistent tradition of crediting the readers and lizard commenters for contributions that are significant enough to make it to the front page.  Within the LGF culture, this (Hat tip:) is considered a sort of a badge of honor, as one’s service to the Grand Lizardoid has been recognized.  Congratulatory messages are passed.  Backs are slapped.

Over the years, the lizards have come and gone, so I guess that it’s not that surprising that most of the lizards that appear in the old credits wouldn’t be recognized by today’s LGF crowd.  What our lurkers might find fascinating, however, is that scattered in the archive’s front pages are the names of “stalkers”, unmentionables, the memory-holed, and other prominent LGF antagonists:

With a little search-fu, what you’ll find is a veritable “who’s who” of the banned-from-lgf universe (click to see thread):

From the memory hole club members and , to the thousands of comments contributed by , to the bitter exits of old LGF staples likeand , to the unique ”flounce” of , to the shrieking harpy , to Dairy of Daedalus regularto the…

….wait for it….

I think that hat tip might be bad for a lizard’s health, now that this sits in front of me.  I’m not sure what else to make of it.  Who else?

You’re going to make Chucky write a script to look for hat tips now?

It’s lazy upkeep which allowed the ungodsly Toasters to infiltrate our defense systems. Mr. Johnson should heed this lesson, but alas, he does not.

I just thought that it was interesting that these hat tips are still there. I mean, in addition to being banned and being a prominent member here, Iron Fist even has had his entire comment history deleted by CJ. Yet there it is.

I pulled up Render, too. Whatever happened to Render?

Think about the way his SQL tables are organized. The hat tips are just part of the text. They’re just ad hoc, and not part of the database structure, unlike the name of the commenter. Zapping them would require a script that rolls through however many gigabites of text looking for string matches. I don’t know if the hamsters could survive that.

A scan of the database in the Opiliocave shows that in 2009, the recipients of LGF hat tips included:

    • Allahpundit  (Aug. 2009)
    • Hot Air   (Aug. 2009)

      — which CJ condoned
    • Instapundit
    • PowerLine
    • Gateway Pundit  (Feb. 2009)
      — now refered to as a cretin of unrelenting idiocy
    • JammieWearingFool  (May 2009)

I registered a sock there the other day. Made a few innocent comments and was instantly bombarded by a bunch of fucking boring dickheads.
I decided it wasn’t even fun messing with them. they were literally that predictable and boring.
I just logged off and went to do something better.

no wonder why registration is open 24/7. only a complete fucking loser would register there and comment, and stick around beyond 5 or 10 minutes

Amazing, isn’t it? I was down-dinged into the double digits several times for making true comments about Obama – just wanted to see the reaction. You’re right – it is no fun because they are so programed. It would be like hopping onto DailyKOS: no debate just shrill “NYAH NYAH’s…

Heck, lots of hat tips notwithstanding, Charles doesn’t properly attribute a lot of his top posts. Lately a lot of the stuff that shows up in LGF Pages subsequently soon ends up as a top post by Charles without any kind of “hat tip” at all. Just coincidences no doubt.

Hat Tip: My Masters at Media Matters

  11. November 7, 2010 at 11:20 am | #27

    ChenZhen, as The Minotaur :
Yea all those Gateway Pundit hat tips have to be embarrassing at this point, too.

Not to mention all the Jihad Watch hat tips.

Look for Charles to do a global search/replace and change all occurrences of “Hat Tip” to “Duped By”.

    • November 7, 2010 at 12:02 pm | #28

      Re: “Duped by”

    re: #142 LudwigVanQuixote

Well no actually. To pretty much everything you are claiming falsely.

First off, The far larger jobs bill was filibustered from the get go. Don’t go and say Reid killed it. That is just not true. The Dems had to wrangle for months to get the 60 votes.

Second off, you managed to ignore every other point I made in the course of YOUR blind partisanship – or perhaps you think that GOP corporate deregulation a la Enron was a good thing? Shall we count the number of times that has bitten all of America in the ass?

And while we are at it – shall we forget that the largest threat facing our civilization is climate change, which to benefit the very short term bottom lines of their masters, the GOP lies about, claims isn’t real and does everthing in their power to prevent any action?

Or what about Rove being so proud that there will be no government regulation of hydrofracking? When that destroys water supplies – how mach damage will that do to the economy? Shall we forget how the GOP apologized to BP for the gulf as well?

The evidence is clear to anyone who isn’t utterly blinded by partisanship. Unfortunately you are so blinded by it that you project it on others.

Reid pulled the 85-billion dollar bill. Period. How you can claim that is false is beyond me, but it’s dishonest of you to do so. Let me know if you need a link…i have about 47.

Second – this isn’t about climate change. I realize that’s where your intellectual security blanket is, but stick to the economics or make a separate point, LudwigvonNonSequitur. Thanks

In all seriousness, to anyone who thinks so – this really isn’t stalking. This is a case study. I am quite sure that this will be able to be looked at quite validly when analysing the twisted, hypocritical downfall of this hack. Psychologists will pore over this for decades.

Would you all believe that I got two! It was quite easy. All you had to do was send Nancy a link that smeared the UK, and it magically appeared. I tested him. I’d send several, lots of positive and one negative, and bingo there it was.
