The Battle for the LGF Archives: Urban Warfare

November 11, 2010

For our readers and lurkers out there who aren’t familiar with how a blog interface works, I want to make sure everyone understands that it is very easy to make a thread or article “disappear” and “reappear” on a website. With the free software we use here at DoD, we can do it with just a few clicks.   In fact, we can change lots of stuff (even the date on a thread, for example).  However, the vast majority of bloggers, I assume, don’t use those buttons very often. Usually, there’s no good reason to. (and the reason is the point of all this, of course)

So…when we discover that CJ is taking some of those memory-holed threads and is flipping them on and off view in reaction to what’s being posted here at DoD, I think there are two things to conclude 1) CJ’s been busted so bad he has no option but be childish and/or 2) CJ’s trying to see how good we are (’cause he might have more deletin’ to do).

So there you have it, Charles. We’re good.   We both know the lizardettes are too scared to bring it up, but you lost that one.   Wikipedia whitewash or not.

Now, we can only guess as to what will come next.  My money?  Well, I’d say that CJ will be moving this battle into the backyards and basements.   House by house, room by room, we’ll have to bust down doors and recover the inconvenient statements aka “mistakes” scattered throughout the citadel of the LGF archives before they’re gone forever.  It’s the next logical step, and I just get the feeling that CJ is itchin’ to try us on.

The stakes are higher here, though. Once content within a thread is deleted, it tends to stay that way.  There are no more ’wayback‘ archives to reference.  No more Google caches.  But remember the ultimate prize in this battle against LGF revisionism made one heck of a contribution to our mosaic:

But are we that good?

    OMG! Another Throbbing Archive!

    • November 11, 2010 at 11:43 pm | #2

No that was the same “Islamic Supremecist” scrub that was covered a while back (and was a topic fought over on wikipedia). I was just using it for the visual.

All those throbbing screenshots are gonna give ‘em drain bamage!

Pursuant to the most current truth, chucky has memory-holed his post, The Soros-Obama Connection. Reportedly it contained a description of Soros as “the Jewish Nazi,” but the Digg summary doesn’t confirm this.

Chucky left something like a confession before deleting:

I can understand anyone wanting to know about George Soros’s doings, because the guy really has been involved in some pretty iffy business dealings, and he really does pump a significant amount of money into political causes. I wanted to know more when I heard about George Soros years ago, just like I wanted to know more when I started hearing about the Koch Brothers.

But Beck has been taking it to the level of a superheated conspiracy theory.

…which is funny in context, since the exact previous item to the one he deleted is him whining about being called out as a purveyor of conspiracy theories on FARK.

There are plenty of Soros-related threads left standing, which is why i think the “jewish nazi” claim must be in the original thread somewhere.

It must’ve been done recently since it doesn’t show on nill’s deleted list.

See you are telling lies again!

Charles does not delete threads, he is a fine and honest and totally trustworthy person. I love him.

He did NOT delete that Soros thread. I have it bookmarked. I can prove it is still there.

Now, please tell Charles you are sorry, all of you. :(

Hmm. Don’t know why he memory-holed that one but left the others up. Something in the comments, maybe?

Ha! I found the comments. Oops!

The link is still there. I use the redirect intentionally.

There’s this, along with a bunch of other now-embarrassing sentiments in the comments, sentiments that would be roundly hooted down now by the very same loozards who originally expressed them:

    37 Alouette Thu, May 29, 2008 10:19:41am

I have always suspected that Soros is not really Jewish, that the nazis murdered that poor little 16-year-old kid and installed a 100% Aryan Hitlerjugend once they found out where all the money was.

Holy moly! Somebody needs to ‘splain the arrow of time to Alouette. First came the Nazis. Then came the money.

Johnson wishes to equate the Koch Brothers with George Soros. Good. Please to explain then, in which countries are the Koch Brothers wanted for economic terrorism and which countries have warrants issued against them for securities fraud.

I hear that the Koch Brothers “fund” the TEA Party. How? My local TEA Party, in Pleasanton, asks for donations from me when we hold a rally – we sponsor tables, etc., and raise the money on our own. What “funding” does the TEA Party need, by the way? Did they pay for everyone to attend Beck’s rally? They certainly aren’t paying for preprinted signs. Maybe they give the TEA Party Express money for their cross-country bus trips. Hardly funding a movement, but keep looking there, Chunky the Ace Reporter.

Someone needs to slow that blinking down to about half it’s current speed so people with middleaged eyes can actually read the difference you are trying to highlight without getting a headache.

    • November 12, 2010 at 11:39 am | #22

Yea I know. I didn’t whip it up, but the phrase that was scrubbed reads “yet another Islamic supremacist”.

There’s got to be a way to adjust that, but I think that it’s a parameter in the gif itself.

      • November 12, 2010 at 12:10 pm | #24

yes, the way I understand it, you’d have to re-do the gif.

Watching this transformation of LGF from interesting to ugly is fascinating. I hadn’t been there in many moons, so I strolled over to peruse. It’s like somebody flipped a switch – from the postings to the comments. Moonbat central, Jekyll and Hyde.

I started noticing the dramatic change in Johnson around late 2006, dissed old Chuck in Nov. 2007 after I got tired of the irreligious nature and duplicitous judgment, and got the boot early and on purpose. Wish I could have mocked him some more.

But never in my wildest dreams upon leaving three years ago did I ever think LGF would become a gutter blog.

Chuck has fallen further than Nancy Pelosi’s popularity ratings.

Here’s a GIF that blinks more slowly and has the deleted text highlighted, fwiw:

It’s easy – just open an animated GIF in Gimp and then save it, at which point you can adjust the delay parameter.
