Over the past few years, there has been a handful of proud LGF members who have stepped forward and gone out of their way to defend CJ and attack his opponents beyond the safe walls of the cult fortress. You see, one trend that we keep noticing in our research is that these little romances are relatively short lived. To illustrate, let’s take a peek at this infamous post (note the timestamp):
”Defending the Defensible”, as many will remember, was actually kind of a big deal in LGF circles, and was the site of a few prolonged flame exchanges. It was even deemed worthy enough to grace the sidebar with an official LGF feed. Click on that link in the thread today, however, and you’re greeted by this (again, note the timestamp):

Those of you familiar with my posts know that I try not to be a harsh person.
However, certain things have come to my attention that I feel the need to address.
A few weeks ago, I was alerted to some lies that were being passed around by some people who comment over at LGF. I don’t take too kindly to lying and having lies posted about what I have done, especially when the liar is one who helped me and then abandoned the project midstream.

The rant against Iceweasel and Jimmah continues for several more paragraphs, eventually culminating with this (emphasis mine):

OK then! I guess we can assume that the project didn’t work out as hoped. But I suppose the title of the thread still holds true, in that it is still an LGF-related blog, but…

Charles could learn something from Irish Rose. When she goes for the memory hole, she does it right. There’s nothing in the wayback machine, nothing on google, both her blogger and wordpress sites, just…nothing. This was one of about 10 impassioned and lengthy “Charles Johnson is right” posts that went supernova after she was banned (I thought I had them, but it seems I didn’t realize google’s long-term memory was an issue). In any case, it’d be fun to keep an eye on the view counter for this thread, since for every click… there is a LOL:

Exit questions for everyone: Will this thread follow the link into the memory hole? Or, can Charles accomplish what I could not, and rescue the “eloquent defense” from its depths? and Is BG and Irish Rose the same person?
Defending teh Defensible was initially a joint collaboration amongst Honorary Yooper, Hoosier Hoops, iceweasel,jimmah and Wild Irish Rose.
It took all of that and that is the best they could come up with?
I wish I had read this before I went back there, only to find out for myself the insanity that is Iceweasel. From the top of the blogs to the bottom in a year…I think the break from the right might have been a mistake.
Why can’t we all just get along?

So…it doesn’t matter what iceweasel says in a conversation with Buzz, he still has a responsibility to address her as though she’s the Queen of England? She was flinging shit at him for MONTHS before he was banned. How much was he supposed to take?

LGF really would make a good subject for a serious study of group psychology in a decaying community. That Defenseman thread immediately presents a few of the many topics that might be considered.
There is the Snake-in-the-Garden construct, the belief that the community was just fine until an Outsider mysteriously entered and sowed discord. Very similar to this is the Kings’ Advisors Syndrome, the tendency to blame the ministers, the favorites, the wife, the in-laws — anyone but the king himself. Will anyone ask who admitted the Snake, the Weasel, or the Advisors in the first place?
Then there is the whole host of cloudy mirrors: the pots calling the kettles black (F**k off, you incivil a**hole!) and the lack of even minimal self-examination by so many. (“I have been wronged!” weeps IRose, “but the other 2000 deserved what they got!”) Should a poster suggest that a reassessment of the master’s judgment and veracity might be in order, will the call be ignored??!!
In all seriousness, this begs for the dissertation, “Patterns of Response to Decline of Community.”

That’s fine. I think that thread about Irish Rose’s hilarious CJ worship posts was my first attempt to dive into the memory hole, and all the threads were in the cache for some time after it was posted. I probably should have copied more of it. The stuff I did get though, were probably the best parts.
Anyway, I admit that I was ignorant about the permanency of the google caches, so is calling me dumb all you have to add? I mean, you didn’t happen to do better at retrieving the threads or anything, did you?
