Chuck discusses Human Rights

November 22, 2010

This statement by Chuck reveals why he’s a Progressive.

Chuck, it’s  about the natural rights of individuals. Clearly he believes that people’s rights are determined by others.

Why doesn’t that swamp just come right out and say that both the Preamble, and the Constitution are flawed documents, and fundamentally wrong.

And after that, maybe Chuck can post his favorite passage from the Koran or something.

    November 22, 2010 at 9:22 am | #2

Human rights come from human beings…

If Chuck had lived under the rule of human beings like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro etc he might think twice before writing that sort of nonsense.

    • November 22, 2010 at 8:54 pm | #3

No, had he lived under such evil tyrants, he’d have been working for them as a low-level member of the Gestapo or the equivalent. He would have enjoyed the opportunities for sadistic petty tyranny such a position would have afforded him.

Really, Chunky? They come from human beings? You mean like……government? So, the government giveth and so the government can taketh away? As PeteP said above, a lot of humans have had no trouble denying others their rights. What a jacksass.

He’s an enemy of freedom, that’s why his most vicious attacks are directed at those who fight most effectively for people’s freedoms, like Geller and Spencer. And that’s why he defends totalitarian ideologies like Islam.

” Government comes from the consent of the governed.” Simple as that.

      November 22, 2010 at 2:11 pm | #10

Government may come from the consent of the governed, but rights as our Founders understood them are “endowed by our Creator.” In agnostic speak, rights transcend government and are intrinsic to the very nature of man as a being with free will, individual personality,a moral sense, and reason.

Precisely. “From God” can be read as shorthand for “beyond the reach of mortal potentates”.

But lefties like potentates. They wouln’t know how to get out of bed in the morning without somebody else telling them.

Strike your father down young Skywalker, and your trip into the darkside will be complete. If there were any doubt before, this statement pretty much puts an end to that. Amazingly, this piece of idiocy garners 12 updings from the moronic psychophants left.

I really hope he merely means that human rights are intrinsic to the self at birth…

And not what I think he means about rights being arbitrarily determined by government…

    • My Little Ponytail
      November 22, 2010 at 11:07 am | #14

Nope, that’s what he means. Actually, worse. What he really means is that rights come from elites. Not just any humans; “special” humans.

      • November 22, 2010 at 11:55 am | #15

And,,, you can’t spell ‘lefties’ without ‘e,l,i,t,e,s’…

So, clearly to Chunk all men are not created equally, I guess. How’s it go, some are just more equal than others?

    Philip_Daniel :

I really hope he merely means that human rights are intrinsic to the self at birth…

That’s exactly what he emans! That governmnet determines our rights. He has a totalitarian nature so it explains why he thinks that way.

Remember when he banned some buddy as a troll who pasted a part of the Declaration of Independence? He called it hate speech if I recall correctly. That was one of the signs that made me start reconsidering everything that was going on over there. Yeah, I was a little slow waking up.

“Human rights” are government largesse, to be granted or withheld at will by the government to those it favors. “Human rights” are inevitably special rights to a favored constituency.

We in America are fortunate in that we have no “human rights,” and have no need of them. The Constitution is designed to make them unnecessary by setting up a limited government, against which Americans have civil rights under the rule of law to restrict the government’s excesses.

The whole point is if your rights come from human beings, then they can be taken away by human beings. Rights that come from a Creator are forever. No government has the right to deny or negate them.

Hey, he’s just siding with Douglass against Lincoln.

(This is highly amusing given that CJ regards any criticism of Lincoln to be “proof” that the critic is a neo-Confederate, white supremacist plotting to re-establish slavery. Alas, CJ is too ignorant of history and far too obtuse to see how funny he really is.)

      • November 22, 2010 at 9:04 pm | #33

Modern-day secessionists (what he calls “neo-Confederates) do not espouse white supremacy, and none of them want to re-establish slavery.

I know because I’ve been part of secessionist circles for more than a decade.

What we want is to free EVERYONE from enslavement to centralized government tyranny. We started up before the “Tea Party”; our motivations are pretty much the same, but we want to carry it a little further by disbanding the federal government entirely and replacing it with VOLUNTARY regional confederations of states, under a Constitution that stringently prohibits the centralization of power.

Again he is dissing religion and God. His full on hate of that expect for Islam is abundtly clear and also blinds him. As far human rights coming from other humans…well again like someone said up above, Pol pot, Stalin, Hitler etc. too many to name shows you how humans treat other humans.
Also his quick defense of his pet kt. Who also hates religion etc.

      November 22, 2010 at 2:35 pm | #37

That is the key factor, IMO. I remember back in my own atheist days how few of my co-irreligionists (!) were able to face the fact that our vaunted “rights” and liberal democracy rest on theistic assumptions, and specifically Judeo-Christian ones.
Of course, there have been many atheists who have faced this reality head on, from mean old Nietzsche to contemporary liberals like Bernard-Henri Levy. But a great many atheists do not have the courage of their convictions.

In CJ’s case, to be fair, he really doesn’t have the mental capacity to deal with these issues. Seriously. I remember him trying to argue with Gagdad Bob once, and CJ honestly COULD NOT understand the very simplest philosophical concepts. CJ is clever in many respects, but his mind is extremely superficial. I suppose that is why he has always been much more driven by emotions than by intellect.

to be fair to the founders, Jefferson and others were Deists, their Deism was informed by Christianity, but they eschewed traditional Christanity.

The problem with Chuck here is that he lacks (or has repudiated) the descretionary intellect to understand that, and to have tolerance and comprehension of dissenting opinions

I imagine Pam has saved every email and text message and has all the backup she needs. And haven’t all of us said all along that Chunky’s obsession has seemed more indicative of a jilted suitor? How about his attacks on Robert Spencer? Why him? Because he spends time with Pam.

You can categorically deny it all you want Johnson, but frankly, Pam’s one smart cookie – certainly smarter than you – and I’m betting she has the evidence safely stored away – probably to use at your inevitable stalker trial.

Actually, when you think about it, it explains so much. I don’t care how much he tries to deny it, the pieces just fit too well. The guy is a creepy stalker who has a bloated self-image and couldn’t handle the fact Pam Geller didn’t respond to a fat, failed programmer, musician and blogger. Go figure.

From now on, every time he attacks her, you can smile to yourself and be satisfied you know the story behind the hate.

The thing is, you can be an Atheist and buy the Constitution (FYI I am a Christian) Voltaire and the humanists would chalk it up to Nature, and that the Creation of Nature endows men with inalienable rights… Yeah, it’s a stretch, but it is doable, and some of the crypto-atheists in the Continental Congress may have bought that. More likely they believed in Nature’s God. That they were Deists.

  28. swamprat
    November 23, 2010 at 8:28 pm | #55

This was a result of a discussion they had where they had to decide what the atheist founding fathers meant when they referenced something called ” a creator” when “The Declaration” was written. They must have been really confused when they wrote it, ’cause none of them believed in god.

Trying hard not to giggle here.
