A Report From The Boiler Room

Charles Johnson has been toggling recently. He’s been flipping a switch, blocking and unblocking archived comments on an irregular basis.

Why he’s doing it is anyone’s guess, but it seems to The Boiler Room Crew that he’s testing the waters for a full-blown vaporization of millions of pre-2008 comments from his website, not only erasing his own history, but the history of many others.  That he’s poised to evaporate millions of comments is not an exaggeration, either. There’s no question that Mr. Lizard is  expending a lot of time and trouble on this.

It has also been confirmed that he’s blocking entire regions from accessing LGF archives. Why would he do this? I’ll tell you. He’s scared and paranoid for what he and his loyal lizards posted back then when they were credible, when they made a difference, before the purge of the sentients.

    Hey phoenixgirl! Things are going well or not, who can say?!? I think that the reason you don’t recognize many of those names is that they came from an earlier time. I was on LGF since December 2003 and was banned, iirc, in August or September of 2009, so I recognize most of the names – but none of the “newer” ones who came, commented and were banned all AFTER September of 2009!
    Plus, as I said, the list is very incomplete – Kirly has a fairly thorough compendium of 1,700 folks who were banned by that little johnson, Charles Johnson!

    Love the list, and I’m proud to be on it. As I just decided to leave one day, vowing never to return, I was never really certain if I had actually been blocked. I never flounced, and wrote a grand total of 300 or so comments. I am somewhat honored that the sick puppy Charlie thought enough of those 300 comments to actually include me in his purge. This honor is far greater than any the pretend world of the internet could provide to me. Suddenly, I have the urge to leave my actual life behind and join Charlie in pretend cyberspace, or, I’ll just have an actual beer and enjoy the Steeler game.

Not everyone was banned like us, or even wrote a flounce – they just stopped going to LGF. They may be at blogs under different names, which is why Chunky hasn’t banned them for disloyalty.

    This list of his active users is rather deceptive. If you look at total comments, there only seem to be two dozen or so that are posting on a regular basis. Let’s face it – in its heyday, with interesting and provocative topics, it was easy for a member to do 100 to 150 posts in a week in the various discussions. He’d like advertisers, etc., to think he’s got a thousand actively posting members.

I assume that there have to be thousands of walkaways; people with accounts in good standing who just haven’t gone there in years. Maybe he zapped a lot of inactive accounts in one of his paranoid fits?

    This is a bit odd, to say the least.

      Chunky doesn’t want anyone researching his site to see the extent of his banning – that thousands were banned in a short period of time. However, his banning has been discussed elsewhere on the webs so he has to show on his list that some accounts are no longer active. It would be hard for him not to put Zombie on the list, despite his/her high comment count, because Zombie’s banning was widely reported. But still, even with 807 records and about what – 100? – showing banned, this gives him something like 700 active posters. And how many of those are socks? How many are walk-aways that haven’t posted in years, as you’ve pointed out? I doubt that he has even 500 people actively participating in his site anymore. That’s a bush-league blog as far as I’m concerned. I don’t know how many we have at the Deuce, maybe 200-300 members (rodan would know), but we didn’t once boast 150,000 hits a DAY, now did we?

      At one time, when Charlie was actually sane, the link thing was a good tool. I found a whole host of other sights that other lgf perusers, pre-2008, had linked to. Then Charlie took offense to people promoting other sights on his sight that he didn’t want others to even visit. After the 2008 crackup, there was a lot of crying foul at things which were previously applauded. The links led me to Ace of Spades, Flopping Aces, Pajamas media, Hotair, etc.. Then, one day, those sites became the enemy, and anyone with any working grey matter became persona non gratta. but I understand that Luddy and KKKilgore are still there.

      Yep. And of the 807 records Chunky puts forward, 185 are blocked accounts, for a total of 627 supposedly “active” accounts. Kirly’s list, as I recall, has over 1800 names on it. So Chunky only put forward 10% of the blocked accounts. And when you consider almost 3 times as many have been banned as are currently posting, doesn’t look good.

Hell between Babba -70,000 or so comments, me with about 88,000 and Mandy with probably around 120,000 ( I haven’t been back since I was banned so I’m not sure of Mandy’s comment total) that’s something like a quarter of a million comments right there – and although he’s claimed that Babba and my comments were all deleted, thrown down the memory hole, you just know that he didn’t deduct all those comments from his comments TOTAL. Advertisers, doncha know!
    Zombie’s banning absolutley stunned me. When I heard that Nekamma (with whom I’ve actually met, ate brunch with etc) had been banned, I knew (not that I had any real doubts at all) that “Charles” had gone off the deep end. Don’t even know if Nekamas’ Troll Hammer is still there.
    What a total waste LGF is now.

      With the great work behind the scenes by the boiler room crew, we can estimate that roughly one third of all active members in LGF history are now banned. (That’s “active”, as in, they had left a comment on the site.) Even more mind boggling is that, of the millions of comments accumulated on LGF over the course of close to ten years, about half of them can be attributed to members who are now banned.

      It’s hard to imagine that any other website would have figures even close to that. LGF is in a league of its own.

Someone posts and anti-LGF comment on her site, and Irish Rose runs over and castigates Zombie, and then runs back to LGF and literally lies her skanky little ass off about the situation. When Zombie attempts to defend her/himself, Chunky the Wonder Twit not only bans Zombie, but calls him/her an ingrate, that Chunky put Zombie on the map! With Chunky, it’s not enough to just ban someone, he has to allow himself the last nasty word (and of course banned poster cannot defend as account is blocked).

      To their credit, there were at the time plenty of lizards with a conscience that attacked Irish Rose for creating the sturm and drang in the first place and then lying about it. But apparently Chunky was angrier that Zombie had allowed a negative comment about him to be posted.
